Function description

As machinery engineer you will be part of the Rotterdam Equipment Engineering Group which is responsible for the equipment of the ExxonMobil refinery and chemical plants in the Rotterdam area.

Your responsibilities as machinery engineer:

• Respond to plant operational events
• Analyze performance of site equipment
• Drive site asset improvement in the areas of safety, reliability, environmental performance and equipment capability
• Assist sites in application of new technology
• Support major capital projects in the areas of design consulting, technical quality assurance and start-up assistance
• Develop and maintain technical standards & guidelines

Professional requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Chartered or working towards Chartership preferred)
• 5+ years professional experience – preferably within a machinery manufacturer, consultant engineering company or end user company (petrochemical or other heavy industry experience strongly desired)
• Good general knowledge of major machinery types: centrifugal, axial and reciprocating compressors, pumps and gas/steam turbines
• Good working knowledge of rotor dynamics, machinery performance calculations, lubrication and shaft sealing
• Working knowledge of API industry standards for machinery
• Field experience in the manufacturing, commissioning and trouble shooting of machinery systems
• Fluent in English and Dutch
